Sat, June 5th: Scavenger Hunt 2010!

Dear One Brick Volunteers: We are a small nonprofit that helps hundreds of community organizations each year. We run on a shoestring budget, but we have expenses like insurance, this website, and training materials. We also employ one person who makes sure the train stays on its track. We don't get any foundation or government grants. 30% of the budget is raised during the Annual Campaign going on right now. This year we need to raise $30,000 to keep One Brick afloat. Last year hundreds of volunteers donated $10 or $20 and it made a huge difference.

If you found One Brick useful this year, and you feel we are
making a difference, please consider making a donation.

Thank You

One Brick DC's amazing Scavenger Hunt has returned!!
Are you ready to spend your weekend at the Museums?  Have you visited the museums around the Mall lately?  If you know what's in all the museums, you and your team may well have the edge for this year's Scavenger Hunt!

Here is a hint to get you started.  Clue sheets will be handed out at our meeting location on the mall outside Smithsonian Station. You will then explore the following museums to find answers to your clues:
  * National Museum of American History
  * National Museum of Natural History
  * National Archives
  * National Gallery of Art (East & West Wings)
  * Freer Gallery of Art
  * Smithsonian Institution Building
  * Arts & Industries Bldg
  * Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
  * National Air and Space Museum
  * National Museum of the American Indian
  * US Botanic Garden Conservatory

For the winning team, we have prizes worth $230 in value, including vouchers for:

* Policy Restaurant Lounge

* Red Velvet Cupcakery

* The Tasting Room Wine Bar

* La Tomate / Mourayo

* One Lounge

We prefer each team having 5 players since we have 5 gifts. Travel light since you will enter museums and bring a digital camera to answer some clues. If you want to take part, but are not part of a team, that's no problem!  We will assign you to a team on the day of the event.

Other Info: Purchase of a ticket is required for participation in this event. One Brick DC has partnered with Google Checkout to offer secure online ticket sales:

Organization: One Brick - DC

One Brick is a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer organization that brings volunteers together to support other local nonprofit organizations. One Brick has adopted an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering. After each volunteer event - which typically lasts only 3 to 4 hours - we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or cafe where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting. Through our volunteer projects, we provide nonprofits with the much-needed labor to carry out their visions. At the same time we foster an environment in which our volunteers can meet new people, both socially and professionally.
