My first events were for Halloween in 2009! I did a Dance the Thriller event which entailed learning the thriller dance and performing it to 1) raise money for an organization and 2) break the Guiness Book of World Records for the most people simultaneously dancing the thriller worldwide.... I didn't followup with how that turned out, sorry :( The other Halloween event I participated with was to help Scare the Bejesus Out of Kids with the Boy's and Girl's Club. We set up & ran their haunted house and activity/snack rooms.... A super fun and cute event!

I had an inconsistent work schedule and saw that I was not a good fit for some of the other volunteering opportunities in the area. I came across One Brick and saw that the events were all over the calendar, fell under every category along the spectrum (I'm a nurse and don't want to do anything medical outside of work!), and that there is a monthly happy hour! I realized that this fun and easy group was the one for me :)
